India’s ₹90,000 Crore Green Hydrogen Wave

As of October 2026, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) reports that India has secured firm green hydrogen offtake commitments reaching 5,55,610 tonnes per annum (TPA). These agreements are projected to drive investments in excess of ₹90,000 crore.

This milestone accounts for approximately 11% of India's ambitious target of producing 5 million tonnes annually by 2030 under the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM). Throughout 2026, Indian companies finalized 18 new offtake agreements—representing over 400,000 MTPA of green hydrogen-equivalent supply—bringing the cumulative total to 23 agreements since the Mission's 2023 launch. Together, these pacts position India among the global leaders in large-scale clean energy supply commitments, catalyzing infrastructure and industrial growth.
